Who Have You Been With

So... Who have you been with?? That's right; who... have you been with?

"When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." Acts 4:13 (NIV)

Have you ever noticed that we often entangle ourselves with people who lead us further away from God? Jokers, knuckleheads, folks who "have your back"... WAY BACK!

My parents always said, "if you want to know what you look like from the eyes of the world... Look at the company you keep!"

I know that that's a scary thought... Because... Well... I'll leave that alone! Just ask yourselves, what do your "friends" look like?

You can't be around just anybody! You have to roll with people who are going the same direction you’re headed! Sometimes it happens instantly; we realize we must distance ourselves from those that don't nurture our relationship with God. Yet sometimes it takes years to see an individual's true fabric. Whether it takes a day, a week, or a year. When a person shows you the true essence of themselves, have the courage to walk away from them into a better you!

Watch this... Have you ever pumped gas? The thing I hate about pumping gas is that whenever I do it, I get back in the car smelling JUST LIKE GAS! I can't deny it! I just pumped gas! Why do I smell like gas? Because of the residue that was left on you!

Listen... Whatever you have been with leaves residue on you! If I had "strong drink" the night before, well there is a smell that lingers out of your mouth and sweat glands. Ever been in a house where someone was cooking chicken? What do you leave smelling like? Get the picture?

But GOD... See, If you were with Jesus as the apostles were in Acts 4:13, you get the RESULTS OF JESUS CHRIST!

Who have you been with? What residue is on you today?
